A popular one-volume history of British naval and military campaigns from 1793 onward, written by Henry Stewart and published in London in 1879 for general readers. The plates gathered here are not battle scenes but small pen-and-ink tailpieces: symmetrical sprays of acanthus and foliage, curling scrollwork, beaded dotted trails and paired medallions, usable as chapter enders, dividers and monogram frames.
