Das Welttheater, oder die allgemeine Weltgeschichte von der Schöpfung bis zum Jahr 1840, etc
A German popular world history in many volumes, compiled by C. Strahlheim and issued from 1834 onward for general readers wanting an account running from the Creation to 1840. The plates are small oval bust portraits of rulers, commanders and churchmen, engraved in fine hatching with dark shaded grounds, useful for period costume detail — fur hats, ruffs, armour, orders and sashes — and for oval vignette framing.
