Old pictures in a new frame ... With illustrations
A collection of sketches by Sir Douglas Straight, issued with illustrations in London in 1877 for general Victorian readers. The plates here are small wood-engraved printer's ornaments: symmetrical daisy-and-scroll tailpieces with beaded cartouches and pendant drops, usable as chapter breaks, rules substitutes, or line-art motifs for monograms and borders.
