A ten-volume history of the Hungarian nation edited by Sándor Szilágyi, secretary of the Hungarian Historical Society, published in Budapest in 1895 for a general educated readership. The plates reproduce engraved portraits of magnates and Habsburg rulers in oval cartouches ringed with Latin lettering, framed by trophies of arms, allegorical figures, garlands and skulls, with engraved Latin and German verse captions below — usable as ready-made oval frames, banner-text rings and ornamental borders.
