Idylls of the King. Vivien. Elaine. Enid. Guinevere ... With ... decorations by G. W. Rhead and L. Rhead
An 1898 New York edition of Tennyson's Arthurian Idylls of the King, published by R. H. Russell with illustrations and decorations by the English brother-artists George Woolliscroft and Louis Rhead, aimed at collectors of illustrated poetry. Dense pen-and-ink plates in a Pre-Raphaelite manner show crowned courts, armoured knights, trailing gowns and rose hedges, with patterned brocade, cobblestone and foliage textures useful as line-drawn ornament and border material.
