The Story of the City of New York ... Illustrated
A popular narrative history of New York by Charles Burr Todd, published in 1888 by G. P. Putnam's Sons for general American readers. Its 65 wood-engraved plates reconstruct the colonial and early republic city: harbour views with sailing craft, ferry landings, King's College and other institutional buildings, captioned in small caps and often ruled with a decorative cartouche.
