A History of England: combining the various histories by Rapin, Henry, Hume, Smollett and Belsham: corrected by reference to Turner, Lingard, Mackintosh ... and other sources. Compiled and arranged by F. G. Tomlins. Stereotype edition
A compiled general history of England assembled by Frederick Guest Tomlins from Rapin, Hume, Smollett and others, issued in London in 1857 as a stereotype edition for a broad Victorian readership. The plates are steel engravings signed by Romney showing successive monarchs in bust or half-length, crowned and bearded, drawn in close-ruled line and cross-hatching against dark stippled grounds within ruled borders.
