A narrative poem on medieval chivalry, The Tournament: or, Days of Chivalry, issued in London in 1823 with numbered engraved plates for readers of Regency romantic-medieval fashion. The twenty-four hand-coloured plates stage armoured knights, plumed helmets, rearing horses and banner-carrying crowds against pale arcades and open sky, giving flat colour masses, silhouetted figures and heraldic pennant shapes.
