Scenes in he East. Consisting of twelve coloured photographic views of places mentioned in the Bible, with descriptive letter-press
A devotional travel album by the naturalist-clergyman Henry Baker Tristram, issued in London by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge in 1870 for Bible readers and Sunday-school use. Twelve tinted chromolithograph plates give hazy pastel panoramas of Nazareth, Jaffa and Bethany with flat-roofed houses and terraced hills, alongside grey wood-engraved vignettes of ruins and rivers useful for muted landscape palettes.
