Historia de Salamanca
A multi-volume civic history of Salamanca written by Manuel Villar y Macías and printed in 1887 for Spanish local historians and antiquarian readers. The plates here are relief-cut printer's ornaments: symmetrical headpieces and tailpieces built from acanthus scrolls, grapevine tendrils, tasselled swags, urns and paired grotesque figures, plus repeated oblong cartouches framing a small wreathed emblem, all in fine black line on cream paper and ready to lift as rules, dividers and frames.
