The History of Warren County ... Illustrated
A subscription county history of Warren County issued in 1882 by the Chicago firm W. H. Beers & Co., compiled for local landowners and businessmen who paid to appear in it. The plates are stipple-engraved bust portraits of bearded men in dark coats and bow ties, each set in an oval, arched or square vignette that fades into blank paper and captioned with an engraved facsimile signature — useful for period portrait framing, vignette masks and handwritten name lettering.
