Passages from the Diary of a Late Physician ... First series
Samuel Warren's "Passages from the Diary of a Late Physician," a collection of medical case-story sketches first run in Blackwood's Magazine, reissued in this illustrated London edition of 1864 for general Victorian readers. The captioned plates are fine-line engravings of domestic and street incidents dash bonneted women confronting men in doorways, tavern drinkers at a round table, a crowd scene, a piano-side courtship dash useful for period costume silhouettes, interior furnishings, and figure groupings drawn with open hatching and plenty of white paper.
