Annals of Philadelphia, being a collection of memoirs, anecdotes, and incidents of the city and its inhabitants, from the days of the Pilgrim founders ... To which is added an appendix, containing olden time researches and reminiscences of New York City
John Fanning Watson's Annals of Philadelphia, expanded by Willis P. Hazard and issued in 1844, gathers memoirs, anecdotes and antiquarian notes on the city's early buildings and residents for local readers and historical societies. Plates reproduce engraved street views of churches, almshouses, banks and market stalls with captions in open lettering, useful for Georgian facades, horse-drawn carts and figure groups.
