The Infant: a novel
A late-Victorian novel by Frederick Wicks, published in London by Remington & Co. in 1895 for the circulating-library reading public, illustrated throughout by Albert Morrow. Morrow's signed pen-and-ink drawings, built from loose parallel hatching with heavy blacks for coats and hats, show street-corner speeches, clerks at counting-house desks, railway platforms and men seated around committee tables, offering ready figure groups, period dress and hatched backgrounds for cutout or collage.
