Matthew Mellowdew. A story, etc
A three-volume-style Victorian novel by James Jackson Wray, published in London in 1879 for a general readership of popular moral and temperance fiction. The plates are not scenes but printers' tailpieces: small symmetrical ornaments in fine line engraving, built from scrolling acanthus and ivy, shield and cartouche shapes, and paired birds, useful as section dividers, spot ornaments, or stencil and vector tracing sources.
