A topographical picture book of China, drawn by Thomas Allom with descriptive text by the Rev. G. N. Wright, issued in London by the London Printing & Publishing Co. in 1858 for British armchair travellers. Steel engravings show harbours, temples, bridges and terraced gardens with crowds of small figures, giving designers pagoda silhouettes, junk rigging, and soft grey tonal skies.
