History of the People of the Netherlands ... Translated by O. A. Bierstadt and Ruth Putnam
A multi-volume English translation of Pieter Johan Blok's history of the Netherlands, rendered by O. A. Bierstadt and Ruth Putnam and issued by G. P. Putnam's Sons in 1898 for general and scholarly readers. The plates here are pen-line chapter ornaments: symmetrical scrollwork centred on a lidded urn, shell and palmette pairs, and a sunburst mask with radiating spikes, usable as rules, dividers and spot ornament.
