A county-by-county topographical and antiquarian survey of Great Britain compiled by Daniel and Samuel Lysons and issued in six large-paper volumes by T. Cadell and W. Davies in London from 1806, addressed to antiquaries, genealogists and landed subscribers. The plates here are small line-engraved shields of arms printed within the text, each a plain outline heraldic charge — crosses, escallops, chevrons, water bougets, a hand in a canton — that can be lifted as simple monochrome emblems, badges or repeat motifs.
