Hampshire: its past and present condition and future prospects

MUDIE, Robert. · 1838 · 56 pictures

Robert Mudie's 1838 county survey of Hampshire, describing its towns, landscape, trade and history for local subscribers and general English readers. The 56 steel-engraved plates are small landscape views — Basingstoke from across fields, Netley Abbey ruins, parish churches, coaching inns with carriages — with fine tonal skies, framing trees and tiny figures, useful for line-engraved scenery and period lettering.
