Le magicien amateur : tours de physique amusante faciles pour tous : Deuxième série / par Magus

1897 · H. Gautier (Paris) · 7 pictures

A French handbook of amateur conjuring and amusing physics tricks, second series, written under the pen name Magus and published by H. Gautier in Paris in 1897 for hobbyists performing at home. The seven cuts are coarse line engravings: performers in frock coats and tricorne hats at draped tables, dotted sightlines marking the trick's geometry, cross-sections of funnels and props, and harlequin and Pierrot figures in heavy black — usable as stage-trick diagrams, costumed figures, and dense black-and-white texture.
