The book of athletics
An instructional manual on American college sports edited by Harvard athlete Paul Withington, published in Boston by Lothrop, Lee & Shepard in 1922 for schoolboys and coaches. Halftone action photographs, captioned and grouped two or four to a page, show distance runners, high jumpers, lacrosse tackles and football forward passes in stadium settings, useful for period sportswear, crowd backdrops and mid-motion figure silhouettes.
