Book bindings : historical and decorative
A 1921 sale catalogue issued by the London antiquarian dealers Maggs Bros., photographing historical and decorative bindings for collectors and the rare-book trade. The plates show whole covers in monochrome: gold-tooled strapwork, arabesque and fleuron panels, crowned armorial centrepieces, corner ornaments and ruled frames, usable as border stock, symmetrical ornament and heraldic cartouche models.
