The book; its printers, illustrators, and binders, from Gutenberg to the present time
A survey of printing, illustration, and bookbinding from Gutenberg onward, written by Henri Bouchot of the Bibliothèque Nationale and issued in English translation by H. Grevel in London in 1890 for collectors and bibliographers. Its 193 plates reproduce printers' devices, incunabula woodcuts, initials, title borders, and stamped and gilt binding covers, supplying ready-made emblem frames, strapwork panels, heraldic shields, and blackletter page furniture.
