The book of art for young people
An introduction to painting written for young readers by Agnes Ethel Conway and her father Sir William Martin Conway, published in London by A. and C. Black in 1914. The plates are four-colour reproductions of European paintings, from Tintoretto's St George and the Dragon and Raphael's Vision of a Knight to a hazy shore scene with cattle, offering dark varnished tonalities, sleeping and kneeling figures, and small castles set in deep landscape backgrounds.
