Book of designs
A trade catalogue of upholstery and drapery trimmings issued by Christian A. Schmidt and lithographed by Mayer, Merkel & Ottmann in New York in 1877, made for furniture makers, upholsterers and curtain workrooms. The plates are tinted engravings of passementerie shown flat and full width: looped and braided gimps, headed bullion fringes, tassel rows and cord borders, usable as repeating band ornament, rule and border stock, or texture for edges and margins.
