Book-plates of to-day
A survey of contemporary American and British bookplate design compiled by Wilbur Macey Stone and issued by Tonnel\u00e9 & Company in New York in 1902, addressed to collectors, printers and private book owners. The plates are small black-and-white line blocks: reading women in Pre-Raphaelite dress, owls, ships and candles set in framed roundels, with flowering trees, ribbons, stylised rose borders and hand-lettered EX LIBRIS panels left blank or filled with a name.
