A boy's workshop
A boy's workshop, published by Lothrop in Boston in 1884, is a manual-training and carpentry handbook written for boys learning hand tools and household craft. Its line cuts are small black-ink diagrams of knots, hitches, loops and spliced rope ends, often lettered A, B, C, giving designers clean high-contrast cordage motifs and instructional figures against bare paper.
