Briefe, Aufzeichnungen und Aphorismen
A posthumous collection of Franz Marc's letters, notes and aphorisms, issued in Berlin by Paul Cassirer in 1920 for readers of German Expressionist art following the painter's death in 1916. The plates reproduce his charcoal and pencil sketches: sweeping arcs, faceted planes and half-legible animal and figure forms built from hatched strokes on toned paper, useful as abstract mark-making, gestural line work and geometric shading textures.
