A brief history of the Detroit Museum of Art and its collections : illustrated
An institutional handbook issued by the Detroit Museum of Art in 1902 to record the museum's founding and holdings for visitors, members, and donors. Halftone plates photograph antiquities and paintings in situ case groupings of glass vessels, pottery, and shallow bowls while the text pages carry pen-drawn initial letters framing blossoming branches against hatched grounds and looping acanthus tailpieces, useful as drop caps, rules, and chapter ornaments.
