A survey of British dress from Roman times to the Edwardian era, written by Mrs. Charles H. Ashdown and published by T. C. & E. C. Jack in London and Edinburgh in 1910 for general readers and students of costume. The plates are line drawings of single standing figures copied from brasses, effigies and manuscripts, showing headdresses, belts, hanging sleeves and shoes in clear outline with light hatching, useful as silhouettes, period garment references and spot figures.
