Bryan's dictionary of painters and engravers
A multi-volume biographical dictionary of painters and engravers, begun by Michael Bryan and revised by George Charles Williamson, published by Macmillan in New York in 1903 for collectors, dealers and art students. The plates are halftone reproductions of paintings — genre interiors with lute players, early altarpiece panels with gilded saints, rustic groups under trees, and full-length child portraits — usable as soft-toned reference images of historical costume and composition.
