Bryan's dictionary of painters and engravers
A biographical reference dictionary of painters and engravers, compiled by Michael Bryan and revised by George C. Williamson, issued by Macmillan in New York in 1903 for collectors, dealers and art students. The plates are halftone reproductions of paintings: three-quarter portrait heads, a child against dark panelling, grouped women in period dress, and a fête-champêtre with lutenists, useful for soft grey tonal fields and costume detail.
