Bubastis (1887-1889)
An excavation memoir on the temple site of Bubastis in the Nile Delta, written by Edouard Naville for the Egypt Exploration Fund and published in London in 1891 for subscribers and scholars of Egyptian antiquities. Halftone photographs show inscribed granite blocks, columns and colossal fragments lying in the dig, often with a seated workman for scale, alongside outline plates of relief fragments, cartouches and site plans that supply clean hieroglyphic line art.
