The builder's director, or bench-mate : being a pocket-treasury of the Grecian, Roman and Gothic orders of architecture ... : wherein the orders of Andrea Palladio are truly laid down, free from erroneous measures ...
A pocket handbook of the classical and Gothic orders published in London in 1751 by Batty Langley, drawing on Palladio's measures, made for working builders and carpenters to carry to the bench. The plates are engraved line drawings of cornices, bases, volutes and mouldings in profile, thick with dimension figures, dotted construction lines and setting-out arcs useful as geometric diagram material.
