The building and decorative stones of Maryland, containing an account of their properties and distribution
A state geological survey report on Maryland's building and decorative stones by George P. Merrill and Edward B. Mathews, published by the Johns Hopkins Press in Baltimore in 1898 for quarry operators, builders, and architects. The 58 halftone plates show working quarries, bedded and jointed rock faces, derricks and timber rigging, and cut blocks with small figures for scale, printed in warm sepia with heavy grain useful as texture, rock-strata pattern, and industrial landscape stock.
