The building trades
A 1916 survey of the building trades in Cleveland, written by Frank Leslie Shaw for the Survey Committee of the Cleveland Foundation to guide public school vocational training. Halftone photographs show construction sites mid-work: steel and concrete skeletons, scaffolding, derricks, excavated lots and crews, giving designers grainy industrial textures and strong orthogonal frameworks against blank sky.
