Bulgarski narodni shevitsi
A plate album of Bulgarian folk embroidery issued in 1913 by the National Ethnographic Museum in Sofia, compiled by St. L. Kostov and E. Peteva and printed by the State Printing House for museum audiences and textile students. The colour plates reproduce cross-stitch and woven panels at close range: stepped hooked medallions, eight-pointed stars, zigzag bands and stylised birds in madder red, indigo, yellow and green, with fringed and tasselled edges, giving repeatable grid motifs and tight border strips.
