The Cabinet-Maker's Assistant, a series of original designs for modern furniture, with descriptions and details of construction, preceded by practical observations on the materials and manufacture of cabinet-work, and instructions in drawing adapted to the trade
A trade pattern book of furniture designs published by Blackie in Glasgow in 1853, issued with construction details and drawing instruction for working cabinet-makers. The plates are fine outline elevations and part-sections of wardrobes, sideboards, bed ends and glazed cabinets, drawn to scale with scrolled apron carving, panelled doors, pierced fretwork friezes and turned feet, useful as line ornament, cartouche motifs and furniture silhouettes.
