Cantor lectures on the arts of tapestry making and embroidery ... delivered before the Society, April 5th, 12th and 19th, 1886

Cole, Alan S. (Alan Summerly), 1846-1934, Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce (Great Britain) · 1886 · London, W. Trounce · 18 pictures

Alan S. Cole's three Cantor lectures on tapestry weaving and embroidery, given to the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce in 1886 and printed in London by W. Trounce for craftsmen, manufacturers and design students. The plates reproduce textile fragments in coarse halftone, including a Coptic panel with a dancing figure in a roundel framed by heart-shaped leaf forms and dotted borders, useful for woven pattern repeats, medallion frames and degraded-edge textures.
