Cardiomorpheoseos sive ex corde desumpta emblemata sacra

Pona, Francesco · 1645 · Veronae · 161 pictures

A Latin emblem book by the Veronese physician and writer Francesco Pona, printed at Verona in 1645, presenting sacred emblems built on the figure of the heart for devotional and learned readers. Oval engraved plates show a single outsized heart set in open country with small towns and churches behind, hatched in fine parallel lines and lettered with mottoes, alongside repeated woodcut scrollwork ornaments; useful for heart motifs, emblem frames, and small typographic flourishes.
