Caricatures
A 1902 album of caricatures drawn by H. W. G. Hayter and issued in Shanghai by Kelly and Walsh for the city's English-speaking residents, who would have recognised the men portrayed. Each plate is a full-length figure in pen line, printed black over a flat tan ground, with straw hats, cigars, walking sticks and bulging waistcoats exaggerated into silhouette.
