Cartoons by Bradley, cartoonist of the Chicago Daily News;
A memorial collection of Luther Daniels Bradley's newspaper editorial cartoons, drawn for the Chicago Daily News and gathered by Henry J. Smith for Rand McNally in 1917, aimed at general American readers of the war years. The drawings are pen-and-ink line work with heavy hatching, labelled allegorical figures, Uncle Sam, ships, eagles and speech balloons, giving designers ready-made political symbols, hand-lettered signage and crowd scenes in high-contrast black and white.
