Cassoni: Truhen und Truhenbilder der italienischen Früh-Renaissance. Ein Beitrag zur profanmalerei im Quattrocento
Paul Schubring's 1915 scholarly survey of cassoni, the painted marriage chests of the Italian Quattrocento, issued in Leipzig by K. W. Hiersemann for art historians and collectors. Halftone plates reproduce narrative panels in horizontal strips: canopied beds, deathbeds tended by angels, birth and banquet scenes, inlaid cupboards, and tiled floors that supply period interiors, costume, and repeating geometric pattern.
