A French-language catalogue of the paintings in the imperial gallery at Vienna, compiled by engraver Christian von Mechel and published at his own expense in Basle in 1784 for collectors and connoisseurs. The plates shown are woodcut headpieces: horizontal sprays of laurel, oak and blossom bundled around blank scrolls, mallets, rulers, set squares and dividers, usable as rules, banners and trophy motifs.
