Catalogue illustré
The illustrated catalogue of the Paris Salon for 1879, edited by F. G. Dumas and issued by Ludovic Baschet for exhibition visitors, collectors and the press. Its 461 plates reproduce academic paintings and sculpture in small, soft grey halftones: peasant figures in fields, tavern interiors, full-length portraits in white dresses, draped nudes, and monument models, useful as period texture and vignette stock.
