Catalogue no. 52.
A mail-order merchandise catalogue issued by the New York dry-goods house B. Altman & Co. in 1886, aimed at women ordering garments and household goods by post. Wood-engraved figures show bodices, skirts, petticoats and children's dresses rendered as flat line work, with dense hatching and repeating Hamburg embroidery, eyelet and scalloped-edge bands usable as borders, textures and pattern fills.
