Catalogue of Arretine pottery
A museum catalogue of Roman Arretine pottery compiled by George H. Chase for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and published by Houghton Mifflin in 1916 for curators, collectors and classical archaeologists. The plates are halftone photographs of moulded relief bowls and fragments lit against flat black grounds, showing banded friezes of dancing figures, cupids, candelabra, garlands and beaded borders, along with potters' stamps — usable as vessel silhouettes, repeating ornament strips and small figure motifs.
