Catalogue of the collection of antique Japanese art objects and curios formed by ... the late Dr. S.M. Burnett, of Washington, D.C. The entire collection to be sold at unrestricted public sale by order of the executors, beginning January 7th, 1907
An 1907 auction catalogue from the American Art Association in New York, listing the Japanese art objects and curios collected by the Washington physician Swan M. Burnett and offered to bidders by his executors. Halftone photographs group the lots against plain or black grounds — bronze mirrors and fish, relief-carved plaques, lacquer boxes, a horn pipe, ivory figure groups — giving designers isolated object silhouettes, low-relief animal and dragon motifs, and coarse-grained tonal textures.
