Catalogue of a collection of paintings and some art objects ..
A three-volume collection catalogue of John G. Johnson's paintings and art objects, compiled in Philadelphia in 1913 with entries by Bernard Berenson on the Italian works and Wilhelm Valentiner on the Northern ones, issued for collectors and scholars. The plates are halftone photographs of early Netherlandish, German, and Italian panels: Lamentations, martyrdoms, donor portraits, and walled towns behind hilly landscapes, useful for drapery folds, crowd groupings, and architectural backgrounds.
