Catalogue of early German and Flemish woodcuts preserved in the Department of Prints and Drawings in the British Museum
Campbell Dodgson's scholarly catalogue of early German and Flemish woodcuts in the British Museum's Department of Prints and Drawings, issued by the Trustees in London from 1903 for curators, collectors and print students. Plates reproduce fifteenth- and sixteenth-century block prints: haloed saints and bishops, enthroned popes, nativity and miracle scenes, framed by foliate columns, arches and blank banderoles usable as ready-made borders and cartouches.
